How much will I need to pay?
|For the first dog||
|For the second dog||Euros|
|For dogs kept in kennels||Euros|
We take the situation on 1 January 2018 as the basis for calculating the dog licence in 2018. If you move to Eindhoven with a dog or you acquire a dog during the year, you will pay for the dog licence from the next full quarter.
How and when do I need to pay?
You will receive a local tax bill at the end of January each year. It will include the dog licence fee. You can pay the amount on the bill all at once or authorise a direct debit. In that case, the amount will be debited from your bank account in 11 monthly instalments. More information about direct debits.
What if I cannot pay the bill?
Can I object?
If you disagree with the bill, you can lodge an objection. You will have to pay it though. If we allow your objection, the amount you have paid will be refunded to your account. For more information, please see challenging a tax bill.
Can I register my dog in a different way?
You can register your dog or have it removed from the register by completing the form for registering or deregistering a dog (only in Dutch). Fill in your details online. They will then be sent to the relevant department. You do not need a DigiD to fill in this form.
What happens if I move to a different municipality?
When you register with another municipality, the licence fee will be reduced. You will still need to pay for the dog licence for the quarter in which you moved house. You will receive written notification of the reduction in the licence fee within four weeks of leaving Eindhoven.
What happens if I no longer have a dog?
If your dog dies or you are no longer the owner of the dog, you can remove your dog from the register by going to the digital tax portal (you will need your DigiD) or by completing the form for registering or deregistering a dog (only in Dutch). You can also complete this form if we sent you a reminder for the dog licence fee. You can also inform us in writing: send a letter to: Gemeente Eindhoven, Afdeling Heffingen en Invordering, Postbus 90150, 5600 RB Eindhoven. Remember to enclose the necessary documents such as the euthanasia certificate from the vet or the renunciation statement.
You will no longer have to pay the licence fee from the next full quarter after your dog has been removed from the register. You will receive written notification of this from us.
Does every dog-owner have to pay for a dog licence?
Everyone who has one or more dogs must pay for a dog licence. This also applies to dogs that never (or almost never) go outside. No dog licence is required for dogs with a special social function, such as guide dogs for the blind and the disabled.
