Who pays the costs of unblocking the drain?
If the drain is empty at the inspection chamber, the blockage is in your part of the sewer. In that case you have to pay the costs. Is the inspection chamber full of water? In that case, the blockage or defect is in our part of the sewer. The company you have engaged can flush the pipes to clear the blockage, possibly temporarily. The company will charge you for this, but you can reclaim the costs from us.
To reclaim the costs, first report the blockage no later that the following working day by way of a public space report so that we can repair the defect. Afterwards, you can make an application to have the costs of clearing the drain reimbursed. Send your request by post to Postbus 90150, 5600 RB Eindhoven, including the following:
- Your name, address and telephone number;
- The cause of the blockage (for example root growth in the municipal part of the sewer);
- Your IBAN bank number;
- The original and specified invoice from the drain clearing company. The invoice should also state: the location, nature and cause of the blockage and the method of clearing used.
The drain clearing costs will be reimbursed to a maximum of 125 Euros. If the drain clearing work was carried out in the weekend or on an official holiday, the reimbursement will be a maximum of 200 Euros.
