How can I have an address investigation carried out?
There are 3 ways in which you can ask us to carry out an address investigation.
Request an address investigation. Complete the form in the screen. You will also need a scanned copy of your identity document. The completed form and scanned document will be automatically sent to the municipality.

Send a letter to: Gemeente Eindhoven, for the attention of Gegevensonderzoek, Postbus 90150, 5600 RB Eindhoven, and provide the reason you are requesting the address investigation and as much information as possible about the person concerned, such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, employer etc. Enclose a copy of your identity document.
- In person at the appropriate counter
You can also make your request at the appropriate counter at Residents' Plaza. Make an appointment by phone (14040, from abroad: +31 40 238 6000) and bring a valid identity document with you.
What happens when I start an investigation?
An address investigation is intended to test the Personal Records Database (BRP). If this is not correct, we will try to make a correction. Starting an investigation does not mean that someone is immediately deregistered from the research address. The person concerned is responsible for making the address of the home address or letter address.
What happens when the current place of residence cannot be traced?
This can lead to the person concerned being deregistered for an unknown destination. This means that you are registered as a non-resident. Your rights as a resident will then expire.
How long does the investigation take?
That varies. Some cases can be cleared up really quickly. In more complicated cases, the address investigation can take several months.
Can I withdraw my request?
Yes, you can withdraw your request. Yes, this is only possible at the counter at Residents' Plaza. Make an appointment by phone (14040, from abroad: +31 40 238 6000).
I have requested an investigation, why do I still receive letters from the municipality addressed to this person?
When an investigation is started, letters are sent to the last known address, because no new address is yet known. If the mail is not intended for you, you must return it to the sender, in this case the municipality of Eindhoven.
I suspect that someone is wrongly registered at my address, but I am not sure. Can I still request an investigation?
Yes, you can request an investigation even if you are not completely sure. If the person concerned is not registered, the citizen will receive an e-mail stating that the request for this cannot be processed further. If the person concerned is registered there, this will be placed under investigation
An investigation is ongoing. Can I come by to explain?
Yes you can. The citizen can call 14040 (from abroad: +31 40 238 6000) to schedule an appointment for this. When the citizen comes by, he must have a valid proof of identity with him.
Can I still use my DigiD when an investigation is ongoing?
No. When someone is placed under investigation, the DigiD is blocked.
