Information about municipal elections

Wednesday 21 March is the day we elect the municipal council. By voting, you join in determining who will govern Eindhoven for the next 4 years.

Who is eligible to vote in the municipal election?

Dutch voters, EU citizens and non-EU citizens who have lived legally in the Netherlands for at least 5 years are eligible to vote. Voters must also be:

  • 18 years or older
  • allowed to vote
  • registered in Eindhoven according to the Dutch Population Register (BRP) on the day candidatures were announced (5 February 2018).

As you can see, having Dutch citizenship is not a precondition for being eligible to vote in the municipal council elections.
