City pass

Residents of Eindhoven can use their city pass for e.g. access to underground waste containers and waste recycling points.

Definition

The city pass is an important, convenient pass issued to all residents of Eindhoven. It cannot be used as proof of identity!

For residents of Eindhoven
All residents of the municipality of Eindhoven are entitled to a city pass. New residents and newborn babies receive their pass at their home address within five days after they have registered or registration of birth has taken place. If you have applied for a city pass via DigiD or by completing an application form, your city pass will be delivered within 5-10 work days.

Residents of Eindhoven can use their city pass for the following:
• to access the waste recycling points (milieustraten);
• With this pass it is possible to buy a subscription pass for swimming pools (Ir. Ottenbad and De Tongelreep);
• to participate in sports activities at a reduced rate at non-peak times at Ir. Ottenbad and De Tongelreep, and sports activities at a reduced rate for residents of Eindhoven on a low income;
• to access underground waste containers (residents aged 16 and upwards only) close to the pass holder’s home (these are for residents of apartment blocks and similar);
• as a pass for the secure bicycle racks (Lock'n'Go);
• as a means of paying for parking in Woensel (more information: How to pay for parking using your city pass).

If you live outside Eindhoven
People who live outside Eindhoven but wish to make use of the De Tongelreep and Ir. Ottenbad swimming pools can also apply for a city pass. These passes can also be used for the secure bicycle racks (Lock’n’Go), but not for access to the waste recycling points or the underground waste containers.

If you live Eindhoven but are not registered as a resident
It is possible that you are living in Eindhoven but are not registered as a resident, e.g. because you are an expat staying here for less than 6 months in connection with your studies or your work. In that case, you will not automatically be sent a city pass when you move to Eindhoven. As a result, you will not be able to make use of the waste recycling points or the underground waste containers. This is because you do not have the same rights as a registered resident of Eindhoven.

Subject to certain conditions, you can apply for a pass that will allow you access to the underground waste containers for the duration of your temporary stay in Eindhoven.

Validity of city pass
Your city pass is valid indefinitely. You will find a ‘valid until’ date on your pass (either 31-12-2011 or 31-12-2014) but these dates no longer apply. Your pass will remain valid indefinitely, even when the ‘valid until’ date has passed. The social insurance and tax number (BSN) is no longer shown on more recently issued passes. This does not mean that you need to apply for a new pass.

If your city pass no longer works or is no longer in your possession, you can apply for a new pass. Your old pass will then be blocked automatically. There are costs attached to applying for a replacement city pass.

Did you live in Eindhoven before and do you still got your old city pass? You can use it again from the moment onwards of you move back to Eindhoven. You haven't got your old city pass anymore? You can apply for a new one. This will cost you €5 (with DigiD) or €7.75.

Your city pass will not be valid until you have stuck a passport photo of yourself in the space indicated. This applies both to residents and non-residents of Eindhoven.
