Description

The Certificate of Good Conduct is often referred to by two different names in Dutch: Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag (VOG) is sometimes also called Bewijs van Goed Gedrag. This certificate shows that on the basis of past conduct there is no objection to someone being offered a new job.

For some jobs, such as teacher or taxi driver, the statement is even required by law because these are occupations where people work with confidential information, money or vulnerable people. A Certificate of Good Conduct may also be necessary for membership of a rifle club.

You do not have to come in person to the Residents’ Plaza (Inwonersplein) to make an application. You can also submit an application by mail to the municipality of Eindhoven or, together with your (future) employer, by email to the Central Agency for Certificates of Good Conduct (COVOG) at Dienst of Justis of the Ministry of Security and Justice. An application made to the municipality costs €41.35. An application made to COVOG at the Dienst Justis costs €33.85.
